I wanted to love this book more. And there was so much potential.
The book spends around 50% of the book looking at Grey and her upbringing. I will say this is important to who she is as a person and the book as a whole. My problem is that Dawson only appears around 50ish % and at that point it’s such a big focus on her making everything work, most especially her education and film future. Then Dawson arrives and all of that disappears. Like there was some kind of rush to finish the book and have sex scenes thrown in. It easily could have been a two or three book series and honestly would have done more justice to all of the work that was put in to the front end of the book. Towards the end there’s this big paparazzi to do on which they discover Greys secret and the whole thing is swept away and overlooked. It’s a little ridiculous. If she cared so much, and didn’t want others to know, why wasn’t it further addressed?

You really don't need any more of a review than my subject line but since you kept reading, I'll try to work with you. This is not a good book because the female H is a neurotic basket case to the extent that it isn't even believable.

SPOILERS AHEAD

The female H becomes a stripper because she needs the money but even months after doing the job she's still shaking and puking and crying every time she hits the stage. She manages to stay completely exempt from maturing despite the very mature world in which she works, lives, and seeks a career in.

When the female H gets out of the male H's car in LA while being chased by the paparazzi because he got a sexy text from one of his exes, I was officially done with her.

Also, there isn't enough development of the relationship between the female H and the male H. I still have no idea why they were together. The male H is likable enough but not in relation to the female H.

I gave this book 2 stars instead of 1 because it did have a couple of decent sex scenes.

If you want to read a better book by Wilder, read Alpha. Do not, however, assume that this book is like that.
Take one Preacher’s daughter from the South with aspirations of making movies and put her in Los Angeles. Then have her go broke and need to find a job. What do you think is going to happen? On the surface, the story seems like hundreds that have come before it which is probably why I never picked up the book. However, since Trashed is coming out on November 25th, I thought it was time to read Stripped.

What was I thinking? This book was fun, heartfelt, and sexy as hell! What could come across to most as a cliche and tired story, is transformed into something fresh and new. I don’t know how she does it, but Jasinda Wilder puts all her heart, humor, and amazing talent into her books every time. Some are deeper or darker (as we saw in BETA), but there are also stories that have that slice of everyday life.

In the book, we meet Grey. When we first meet her, the reader soon realizes that she is not exactly a Southern Belle. Her desire to be anything but the perfect Preacher’s wife (and daughter) propels her to move to LA after her mother passed. This was the plan that she had made and she was sticking to it. As she arrives in the City of Angels, she is alone. Though she manages to make a path for herself with school and through her films, Grey knows that she isn’t really living. Then one day, her world comes crashing down. She is broke and is forced to get a job that she hates more than anything. She becomes a stripper. However, it is one night when hearth-throb Dawson Kellor comes into the club that everything changes. He sees her. The connection is undeniable, and so begins the story of Dawson and Grey.

I will warn you, you will fall in love with Grey Amundsen and Dawson Kellor. Their dynamic and relationship is both extremely real and swoon-worthy at the same time. From the minute you open this book, you will not want to put it down. So grab your coffee and settle in for a night with Stripped.
I have these moments in life where I feel like I'm a part of something special. Sometimes it's a song , sometimes it's a specific experience and sometimes , but not often enough, it's a book. This book is one of those moments, one of those times when I close a book and I just feel like it was an honor to have read the book. Grey, at times I was frustrated with her self doubts and her inclination to run away but then I realized that that was her, imperfections and all. Dawson, what can I say, he had me from the start. He never gave up and I loved him all the more for it. I've had this book on my forever and now I'm just mad at myself for not reading it sooner. Go , one click, you won't be sorry.
Spoiler the characters were thought put well, their background and dark past. I would've like to have seen a little more struggle for Dawson falling for Grey than it just happening the next chapter. The events in the book are good but are somewhat confusing. Some parts are long and drawn out with explanation such as the beginning and the way Grey's family life is but then you're taken to LA and two years pass within 1 chapter. While in LA you only read about one chapter or so of Grey's intern position with Katz but as soon as Dawson comes into play it is nonexistent and you only read a few more times about the strip club until Dawson closes it down. You don't read the back and forth struggle with her flip flopping job and internship. Then she sleeps with Dawson and you're given another fast paced year of courtship, people proppositioning her for sex bc they met her at the club, more interesting turmoil with Grey and her upbringing. There is a brief stint with her reunion with her father and you read nothing more until the wedding and among all of that another sexual proposition at a party and Dawson loses his mind. Not to mention the struggle with a birthday gift and anal sex. I love Jasinda's books and I read this entire book as a benefit for the doubt but I didn't love it. Good concepts just elaboration on thoose that didn't need to be and minimal dialogue on those concepts that needed it. As well as a few tid bits thrown in for who knows what. Maybe a little more organization a structure.
