It was difficult for me to continue reading this book. The story is fictional, but the story line is not. I usually read a book in two days, but was difficult to do with this book. It reminds the reader we live in a wonderful world, with dark secrets and pain. It also reminded me of all the good in people and hope. Geocaching was something I had never heard of and looking forward to learning more. Thank you Michelle

Cache a Predator A Geocaching Mystery M Weidenbenner 9781490936390 Books Reviews

Young cop Brett will do anything for his five-year old daughter Quinn. If that means violating the protective order his ex-wife Ali took out on him, he’ll do it. If that means proving to the courts that Ali is an incompetent mother to gain full custody of Quinn, he’ll try to be patient and maintain his temper to do it. Brett’s fight to protect Quinn is made more complicated when they are both thrown in the middle of a crime where a vigilante is gruesomely targeting sex offenders by hiding their wankers in local geocaches.

Cache a Predator has everything a thriller needs to make a fast-paced read that will pull at your heartstrings. I couldn't put the book down. The characters are compelling and complex, with real motivations. Quinn will make you want to save her. Brett will bring you to his side. Ali will tug at your sympathy even as you want her daughter to be taken away from her care. The vigilante will make you take a second look at sex abuse victims… and make sure your door is locked. As this is a thriller with a who-dun-it context, I thought that by paying attention to every character I could figure out the ending, but it turns out the author was a lot more clever than I was and was able to surprise me with the climax.

The intro was setup in an intriguing way. Almost from the very beginning I knew what happy ending I wanted to see, where all ends would be tied sweetly together. I’m sure you’ll have some of the same yearnings, but you’ll have to read to find out if it all turns out the way you expect and desire.

This book blew all my expectations out of the water and although I picked it up for the geocaching element, I was not let down when I found out there was very little geocaching involved because the book was so thrilling and very well written. My only comment would be to cut out the last chapter.
Story revolves around a former abused child placing the dismembered private parts of pedophiles in different geocaching sites interlaced with the story of an officer becoming a marked man himself and his desperate struggle to protect his own child whom is placed in foster care. Great character studies and heart-breaking at times, but will not be suitable for all as result of the disturbing subject matter and the somewhat mixed ending. I'd give it 3.5 stars for being a quick, suspenseful read.
Brett's most recent case is a serial whacker preying on child molesters is on the loose. As this was going on, Brett was also placed into a predicament where his beloved 5 year old daughter, Quinn was turned into foster care. They said it would only take a few days before he could be with Quinn but a lot could happen.

Cache a Predator was intense and had real life scenarios that was truly tough to see but they where real. Abuse is real and it was very difficult to read and the author wrote with such great insight. The book was a page turner, I was truly hoping that Brett would find Quinn and that she was okay. This book is like watching Criminal Minds or Law and Order. I had a guess on who was the perpetrator but I was slightly wrong. I loved the characters especially how much of a good father Brett was. One thing that I truly appreciated was that Clay and even Brett's father were open in offering their prayers, Clay even prayed for Brett which to me was awesome because I rarely see that in the books I've been reading.

I was up until the wee hours of the night to finish Cache A Predator. If you are into thrillers then you would love this novel.
This book helped me appreciate the great writers I lean toward. The characters, despite intended complexity had about as much dimension as a piece of paper. Show don't tell; that's what I was taught. The romance between shrink and client was ridiculous and eye rolling. The red herring was so obvious, worthy of another eye roll. And where did the friggin' dog disappear to for days?? That was never explained. The perp was relatively obvious to me, characters were over the top and/or one-dimensional. My eye rolls turned the pages, I just wanted it to be over. The most interesting part was a single scene between a boyfriend and girlfriend turned witnesses who got engaged during a geo caching / evidence find. I was skeptical at the onset but wanted to expand my base. This was a complete waste of time and $4. I won't be reading anything further from this author!.
It was difficult for me to continue reading this book. The story is fictional, but the story line is not. I usually read a book in two days, but was difficult to do with this book. It reminds the reader we live in a wonderful world, with dark secrets and pain. It also reminded me of all the good in people and hope.
