The Tower Guardians of Destiny Jean Johnson 9780425262221 Books

This is the first of a connected series following the gathering of priests, priestess, worshipers and other religious leaders to the Convocation of the Gods which was held on the Isle of Nightfall. This particular book focuses on the Master of the Tower who is a Fountain Guardian. The attack on the Memmnon Fountain which is covered in The Flame, has repercussions that effect the Tower Fountain. This causes the Tower Guardian to be caught locked outside while all the lethal defenses are activated. To regain control he has to navigate the dangers with a female warrior. This presents its own danger, the possibility of love.

Interesting idea and set up was fun but began to go on with the obstacles too long. Definitely felt like reading about a action game which isn't as fun as playing one. The villains spiced it up, but again were eliminated too fast and not enough real danger. The developing love story was primary throughout, gentle with a slow buildup, rather different for a fantasy romance series. This is readable as a standalone, but would be best appreciated after reading the Sons Of Destiny Series, particularly The Flame, The Storm and The Master as those events and characters interact especially towards the end.

I am delighted that Jean Johnson has continued writing about Nightfall. Thank you.

The Tower Guardians of Destiny Jean Johnson 9780425262221 Books Reviews

Can't wait for next installment in series. Feels like your following friends.
The book continues in the world that Jean Johnson introduced in her Sons of Destiny series. While not her most engaging book, it still offered a lighthearted story with fun characters and some suspense.
Love her writing! If you haven't read her before, I would gladly suggest you give Jean Johnson a try. You will not be disappointed.
There is nothing bad that I can say about this book I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read the second book. The author of this book really knows how to get you into the book and keep you there until the last page, I feel that this is a book that anyone 16 and older would enjoy.
After reading the Sons of Destiny series, I went looking for more. Jean Johnson's writing style is magnificent. It flows smoothly and the storyline is absolutely captivating. The Tower is a wonderful start to this new series, I've purchased all three currently available and eagerly await the next one to be published!
The first 2\3s of this book is a fun dungeon crawl with sexy bits. Then trying to figure out why the tower was attacked in the first place.
4.5 stars
I have read this book twice and freely admit to enjoing it far more the second time around. This was likely due to the fact that my first read was interupted mutiple times over and thus had me loosing interest and my place in the book. The second time I read the book I still laughed at the names of some of the traps that Kerric and Myal had to face. Particularly "One Foot, Two Foot, Red Foot, Blue Foot" and the "Flaming Flying Poodles of Doom". But, the second time I also liked reading how the Aian Mage and the Mehndite warrior traversed the gauntlet of challenges set before them and built up a respect and a relationship through all they face.
This book is very much like one of those online computer challenge games which mix riddles and activites that the charater must complete in order to move on. Though I am personally horrid at these games I have always enjoied watching those who have the mix of hand eye cordination and wits to move along and win. So this book was perfect in that way for me. I got to imagine the challenges as I read and even imagine the finale sequence.
If you like adventure stories with romance thrown in I would recommend giving this book a try.
