Ruthless Game A GhostWalker Novel Christine Feehan Books
I've read all of Christine Feehan's Carpathians books and enjoy them all. Well worth a read however after a while the stories and characters begin to feel interchangeable and become blurred in my memory. I think I may just be too many books in at this point. Then again I have over 500 vampire books so this may just be me. Still it's a nice guilty pleasure.Tags : Amazon.com: Ruthless Game (A GhostWalker Novel) (9780515149210): Christine Feehan: Books,Christine Feehan,Ruthless Game (A GhostWalker Novel),Berkley,0515149217,Romance - Paranormal - General,Occult fiction,Parapsychologists,Parapsychologists;Fiction.,Parapsychology,Parapsychology;Fiction.,Romantic suspense fiction,Romantic suspense fiction.,AMERICAN LIGHT ROMANTIC FICTION,AMERICAN SCIENCE FICTION AND FANTASY,FICTION Romance Military,FICTION Romance Paranormal General,FICTION Science Fiction Genetic Engineering,Fiction,Fiction - Romance,Fiction-Romance,General Adult,MASS MARKET,Monograph Series, any,Romance,RomanceGeneral,Romantic suspense novels,United States, paranormal romance; romantic suspense; paranormal suspense; contemporary romance; science fiction; genetic engineering; military; supernatural thriller; supernatural; thriller; paranormal; romance; suspense; mystery; conspiracy; psychics; telekinesis; mutants; contemporary; love; dating and relationships; dark; ghostwalkers; family; children; GhostWalker series; Christine Feehan books; paranormal romance books; romantic suspense books; military romance; romance novels; fiction; romance books; fiction books; vampires, paranormal romance;romantic suspense;paranormal suspense;contemporary romance;science fiction;genetic engineering;military;supernatural thriller;supernatural;thriller;paranormal;romance;suspense;mystery;conspiracy;psychics;telekinesis;mutants;contemporary;love;dating and relationships;dark;ghostwalkers;family;children;GhostWalker series;Christine Feehan books;paranormal romance books;romantic suspense books;romance books;romance novels;sci-fi;science fiction books;military romance;sci fi;ghost,FICTION Romance Military,FICTION Romance Paranormal General,FICTION Science Fiction Genetic Engineering,Fiction - Romance,American Light Romantic Fiction,American Science Fiction And Fantasy,Romantic suspense novels,Fiction,Romance
Ruthless Game A GhostWalker Novel Christine Feehan Books Reviews
This book wouldn't have worked if you didn't get to read Zacarias' point of view so much. He is just so domineering and controlling and scary!!!
But from inside his head, looking at his motivations and his very real love of Marguerita...well this story just comes alive! I love their relationship, and I love how the give and take flows between them. He tries so hard to be everything Marguerita deserves but he can't change the kind of man he is. He doesn't seem to get that this is the other half of his soul, she can handle this Carpathian, no matter how much of a jerk he can be!
I love this book because i fell in love with Zacarias and Marguerita. Their relationship certainly wouldn't work for everyone but it seems to fit the two of them perfectly. I love seeing them make those big mistakes and finding out they love each other enough to forgive, especially when they understand the other person's point of view. It's truly a beautifully crafted story in that regard.
If you can handle a domineering man straight from the Stone Age falling in love with a beautiful lunatic (Zacarias' words not mine 😂), then give this story a try!
and I run into the same issue I had last time and a part of the reason I started having trouble with this sereis. It's all well and good to do the women are equal storyline but you can't have it both ways. If the lifemate is a fated thing and you allow those rightieous 21st century liberated moms the privilege of raising their daughter with a choice then you should also be giving them all ALL the information needed to make that choice. If you are one of a race of people whose men require a lifemate to save their own lives and reduce the threat to others then that should be part of the information given to all of the children of the race. Free will is only free will if you know what you are choosing and why. To deliberately choose to cause pain to a lifemate or not even tell your child that she may be a lifemate and leave that path open especially when you as a mom know what the bond entails is criminally deficient, imho.
I first have to admit I almost didn't purchase this book due to quite a few bad reviews. I love the Dark Series and realized, no matter the end result, I would not skip the all powerful Zacharias! I do not regret my decision as this one is just as good as all the ones before.
Zacharias is ancient, powerful and set in his ways. He has lived in a kill or be killed world for a thousand years without emotion. When he realizes he has a lifemate, he doesn't adjust and conform immediately as all the others have. He doesn't realize that he can feel emotion or remember his past. He only sees himself as The Hunter, an ice cold killing machine who doesn't tolerate disobedience without punishment. I expected him to make huge mistakes where his lifemate was concerned as he has stayed away from civilization and the other Carpathians for centuries. Overprotective, Harsh and unapologetically demanding, he falters, but in a way that makes you feel sad that he doesn't understand what he is doing wrong. From cheering him on to shaking my head, I rode the roller coaster of events and emotions waiting for Zacharias to learn how to truly love.
It amazes me how Feehan can make each couple so unique throughout this series. I loved that the hero was born with so much darkness in him already that he can't even experience emotions/color without being continually joined to his lifemate. To write someone who is so completely on the edge as the hero is and make him believable was really well done. I also loved that the heroine didn't wallow in self-pity from the injury caused by the vampire. I thought this couple were great together and i will definitely read this again. A few reviewers have seen the hero as abusive, but I didn't see that at all. I saw a desperate man who was dealing with demons and the culture shock of living in an age that was alien to him. And i thought the way he dealt with that, and how the heroine dealt with him, was really well written.
I couldn't wait for this book to end. The only good part - and it WAS good which is why you may want to give the 2nd book a chance (even though I am seriously recommending you avoid this one) - the only good part was the actual paranormal plot line. It was intriguing, but got only about 20% of the focus. Another 5% of time went towards introducing characters who will appear in future books.
The remaining 75% of this book went to relentless and tedious sex between the two leads. This author actually managed to make sex boring! The sheer volume of sex became laughable they see each other and picture having sex, they are apart and each one imagines having sex, they are together again talking about having sex or having sex or looking at each other and - surprise! - thinking about sex. I began skimming the (long, long, long) sex scenes early on, looking for the next items of the actual plot.
Plus, no relationship or character development occurs anywhere. The people in this book are written very flat. They just paranormally 'know' one another, so there is nothing for us as readers to see or touch or feel that helps us learn or care about them.
I absolutely recommend you save your time and money by skipping his book. If its description interests you, maybe give the 2nd book in this series a shot. You won't miss anything, and maybe some actual character development or focus on the plot happens there. Or maybe not ...
